The Power of Transparent Offshore Collaboration

Why Transparency Matters
There’s an old saying about how to grow mushrooms. ‘’You keep them in the dark and feed them crap.’’
That’s precisely what you don’t want to do when leading offshore teams.
People want to feel included. They want their voices heard. When you only give people small bits of information, they grow to the size of that limitation. If you want your team to grow like trees, not mushrooms, you have to give them sunlight, and sunlight is transparency.
At Get Levrg, transparency is one of our core values. Every teammate should have 100 percent of the context they need to make informed, autonomous decisions. That’s how people think critically and act with confidence.
We utilize a simple model known as the 1-3-1 framework. You give someone a situation or challenge, and they explore three options, then make one recommendation. Transparency provides them with the data and clarity to make informed decisions without needing your oversight.
If you want people to grow through you, to take things off your plate, you have to trust them with the whole picture.

How Transparency Shapes Performance and Culture
When you’re overtly transparent, you create a community that brings you ideas, not just tasks. Without transparency, people only execute at the level you told them to. They’ll do what’s asked, nothing more. However, with transparency, they gain a clearer understanding of the bigger picture and begin offering solutions, improvements, and innovations.
Transparency makes people feel safe to speak up. It builds a culture where failure isn’t feared and where new ideas are welcome. That’s where performance takes off when your team feels like partners, not order-takers.

Tools and Practices That Support Transparency
We’ve built transparency into our operations. We borrow from EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) and run Level 10 meetings across departments.
Each week, teammates can submit an idea or issue for discussion and review. Everyone can view the agenda, discussion points, and follow-ups. Nothing is hidden. Every voice is heard.
We also balance synchronous and asynchronous communication.
- Synchronous means real-time, daily, or weekly standups where people share ideas openly.
- Asynchronous means written communication, where ideas, notes, or updates can be shared at any time, even if people are in different time zones.
That combination keeps everyone aligned and ensures every idea gets processed. There are no wrong answers, no bad suggestions, just input that helps the team grow.

What Happens When Transparency Is Missing
When transparency is missing, you get blind spots.
People start solving the wrong problems because they can’t see the whole picture. They don’t know why something matters or how it connects to business goals. They might hit deadlines but miss outcomes.
If you only give someone a small piece of the puzzle, they’ll never see the final picture. Transparency shows them what “good” looks like, what the outcome should be, when it’s due, and why it matters. Without that, people turn into robots checking boxes instead of team members driving progress.

Building a Transparent Offshore Culture
Creating transparency starts with systems and leadership.
- Establish clear communication channels, both in real-time and written formats.
- Share context generously so people can make informed decisions.
- Set measurable outcomes instead of micromanaging tasks.
- Lead with trust. Assume competence, not mistakes.
When you give your offshore team the whole picture, they stop waiting for instructions and start thinking critically. That’s when you move from managing people to empowering them.
